“I have to change a tune to my own way of doing it. That’s all I know.” —Billie Holiday

Should we be singing the blues about the newest WordPress release?

Heck no, we love WordPress. Let’s break it down.

Vancouver WordPress Web Design Company

WordPress Release 4.3 Billie

News of the release was shared this week by Matt Mullenweg via WordPress.org. Continuing the jazz trend, this release sees the addition of famed songstress Billie Holiday to the WordPress club. So, what’s new?

Content formatting

With the newest updates we see a markdown inspired format added to the content editor. Using symbols you’re now able to update your content quickly without interrupting your workflow. Editors take note, formatting shortcuts are your new best friend.

Site icons

Designers and marketers everywhere, rejoice! Maintaining brand consistency with the addition of site icons is now at your fingertips. Why does this matter? Site icons represent your site in browser tabs, bookmark menus, and on the home screen of mobile devices. Simply add your site icon in the customizer and you’re good to go!

Better passwords

With WordPress powering about a third of the web, staying on top of security is a paramount concern. The easiest way to put one more layer between you and a potential security thread is having a secure password. There’s been a lot of hacking going on as of late. WordPress 4.3 is here to help.

It’s always nice to have the latest and greatest tech at your disposal. Of course—as with any new release for WordPress—our team highly recommends backing up your website prior to updating. Most websites have some sort of automatic backup system already in place. Make sure yours does too.

Review from the Forge and Smith team

Lady Day was able to put her own signature touch on whatever she sang. With WordPress 4.3, the voices of today have greater flexibility in customizing their own content.

This latest release offers further proof that WordPress is the definitive user-friendly website platform. We like it! Questions about using WordPress for your website? Get in touch.
