Phase 1

Prototyping

FII was undergoing a brand refresh, but their old website was built on a deprecated Drupal theme that was difficult to update. Having worked with us before on two other website projects, they decided to migrate to a platform they knew would give them much better control over their content – and get a full website redesign at the same time.

This project was driven by content. Our goal was to build a clean new information architecture, then collaborate with FII on updating and curating their overall content offering.

Style Concepts

Although this wasn't a total branding overhaul, FII's website refresh gave us the opportunity to take advantage of their gorgeous subject matter – BC forests. We created a design with much bigger use of earth tones and photography, resulting in a stronger visual storytelling experience.

Bringing It All Together

FII is a Crown corporation, so all of their digital assets have to live up to high expectations. Their new custom WordPress website boasts a more engaging user experience, clearer navigation, and it's significantly easier for their team to update and manage. Their funding programs are a more prominent offering, and their vast content library is easier to search and browse. The site is a much better testament to FII's value as a resource for innovating companies.
