About the Organization

Inclusion BC is a provincial federation whose members include people with developmental disabilities, families and community agencies. They’ve been dedicated to advancing rights, promoting abilities, and building awareness since 1955.

Objectives
  • Improve overall aesthetic and user experience and to make the site more engaging
  • Improve overall site architecture and navigation to enable easier browsing and a more frictionless experience (less is more!)
  • Refine audience focus and create clear paths to content and actionable next steps
  • Improve representation of and access to member organizations and service providers
  • Establish separate but connected experience for the Foundation
  • Dramatically improve SEO performance
  • Implement a fully responsive solution backed by WordPress CMS
Phase 1

Prototyping

Inclusion BC brings attention to critical gaps in supports and services for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. What they needed was a more strategic web design to help their important work find its target audiences, raise awareness, and encourage donations. This would include a fresh approach to their content strategy, including a revised user experience and all new photography.

For this web design and development project, we knew that usability was the key to success. We focused our content structure around creating optimal user paths for each audience, delivering navigation and callouts to resources and involvement opportunities in clear, logical places.

Phase 2

Style

The organization’s key message is about inclusion, and their website needed to convey that feeling through content and design. The old Inclusion BC site felt outdated, with a simple, text-heavy design. The new web design took the fresh photography assets and created a much more visual, emotionally engaging story. The bright colours of their palette combined with authentic, real-life images are much more compelling. The bold new page designs highlight important information for visitors.

Phase 3

Bringing it All Together

The new Inclusion BC website is a much stronger storytelling asset. Beyond simply hosting information, it builds visitor relationships around advocacy, donations, campaign engagement, and critical resources. With an updated SEO strategy, their organic search traffic has seen a steady increase since the new site was launched and Google Analytics tracking was implemented. Each part of the web design, on every page, provides clearcut paths to learn more about their organization, get involved, or access their resources.
