About the Organization
ISSofBC is a non-profit providing a supportive environment for newcomers to Canada. They help immigrants and refugees feel welcomed and supported through a wide range of free services for settlement, English language instruction, and employment needs.

ISSofBC has a fantastic reputation for helping all kinds of newcomers to Canada with their services. We have worked with them multiple times over the past 12 years on redesigning and expanding their main site, and on six projects for their sub-organizations. The goal this time around was to replatform ISS’s site onto our low-code site builder, Refoundry, so that their team can iterate the site themselves without so much reliance on developers.
Although we were keeping most of the same content, we needed to update the information architecture and user experience to make the site compliant with WCAG accessibility standards. We also needed to plan for new pages to support storytelling and awareness goals, a program-finder quiz, and improved menus.
Style
ISS’s imagery and aesthetic needs to immediately feel welcoming to people from a wide variety of cultures and experiences, and they weren’t moving away from their existing branding. We refreshed the look of their site through updated page designs, continuing to focus on spacious layouts and an overall friendly, professional vibe.
Bringing it All Together
The latest redesign of the ISSofBC website is a polished, welcoming user experience, with clear paths to find crucial resources, services, and contacts. Whether the visitor is looking for settlement support, job search assistance, or to get involved, the new site structure and navigation make it smooth and seamless. And now that it’s built on Refoundry, it’s significantly easier for their team to update as programs and services change.

Refoundry is a low-code site builder plugin created by Forge and Smith’s owner, Shawn Johnston, and our team of engineers. We’ve been building all of our websites on it since late 2022. It empowers our clients with total creative freedom in WordPress, and the ability to more easily grow and scale their sites.
