About the Company
Founded in 2012, Parallel 49 Brewing is one of Vancouver’s earliest, and best-known, breweries. They have a distinctly Pacific Northwest approach to making beer using regional ingredients. Their Street Kitchen is one of BC’s largest craft brewery restaurants, with 40+ beers on tap and a fully stocked indoor food truck.

Prototyping
P49 is a Vancouver staple when it comes to craft beer. Their old website was tiny, and impossible for their team to update without a developer. This meant that it never showed their new and current brews.
Although this is a small site structurally, it has a couple of slightly more complex areas as far as functionality – specifically the Street Kitchen menu and the Where to Buy store finder. We also prototyped filters for the beers, so that users can browse all products or narrow it down to their specific tastes.
Style
Cans of P49 beer have bold artwork that radiates an East Van vibe. We used starkly contrasting dark and light backgrounds with lots of white space, to draw a visitor’s eye to the bright colours on key content and callouts. Serifed fonts emulate their logo, tying all of the visuals together.
Bringing it All Together
The new Parallel 49 site is a bright, clean experience that guides visitors straight to what they want – the products and menus. It’s easy to browse their current brews, make a reservation at the Street Kitchen, and find out which local stores have their beer in stock. In the first month post-launch their site had such impressive engagement and conversion rates that we thought it was an error, but the site really is just delivering exactly what users come to find. And now that it’s built on Refoundry, it’s significantly easier for their team to update the rotating offerings.
Built with Refoundry
Refoundry is a low-code site builder plugin created by Forge and Smith’s owner, Shawn Johnston, and our team of engineers. We’ve been building all of our websites on it since late 2022. It empowers our clients with total creative freedom in WordPress, and the ability to more easily grow and scale their sites.
