About the Organization

The Oliver Tourism Association (OTA) is a registered not-for-profit that provides valuable information and opportunities to visitors. It also supports local member businesses, and showcases what makes Oliver, BC, a unique home, workplace, and playground.

Objectives

  • Improve reach and visibility through storytelling and more visitor content
  • Improve site architecture and navigation to make it easier to browse and discover content
  • Implement a search-friendly blog and events calendar to improve brand storytelling, engagement, and SEO
  • Build on SEO foundations to increase search engine traffic and drive future growth
  • Implement a fully responsive solution backed by WordPress CMS

Phase 1: Prototyping

Prototyping

It’s always a pleasure to look at gorgeous travel photos, so our team was delighted to work with Oliver’s tourism board on a redesigned website. They came to us with a great grasp on content and optimization, and just needed everything to look better and be significantly easier to manage.

Through the information architecture and UX design stages, we focused on creating a more logical menu flow, and more content relationships to drive visitors to more business and activity pages. We kept their events prominent, while redesigning the events area to better showcase annual events.

Oliver had fun branding that we brought out through more spacious page designs and rounded elements, giving each section distinct space while drawing the user’s eye through subtle background lines. We created custom maps, and a clean, vibrant design that utilizes their brand colour in a systematic way.

Phase 3: Bringing it all together

Bringing it All Together

The new Oliver Tourism website is a gorgeous visual experience befitting Canada’s wine capital. It’s easy for visitors to check out all of the activities and businesses in the area, and access itineraries and regional information. The site houses everything a potential tourist could need, and most importantly, it’s easy for their team to manage businesses as their membership grows, because it’s built on our low-code site builder plugin, Refoundry.

Refoundry is a low-code site builder plugin created by Forge and Smith’s owner, Shawn Johnston, and our team of engineers. We’ve been building all of our websites on it since late 2022. It empowers our clients with total creative freedom in WordPress, and the ability to more easily grow and scale their sites.
