About the Project

BCNPHA’s research and policy work strengthen the non-profit housing sector, from data supporting a housing provider’s development proposal to submissions and campaigns that influence federal housing policy.

Objectives

  • Ensure accessible information architecture for easy content discovery by several unique audiences
  • Align visual elements and storytelling with refreshed branding while improving user navigation
  • Reorganize and expand current blog and events for enhanced search and discover-ability of content
  • Improve conversion of site visitors for various education offerings
  • Implement a fully responsive solution backed by WordPress CMS

Phase 1: Prototyping

Prototyping

BCNPHA’s mission is to serve members and the entire B.C. non-profit housing sector with the information and resources needed to deliver diverse affordable housing options. With that kind of important content and resources, it’s imperative that information is easily accessible with clear, well-defined paths for users.

The main goal of this web design project was a complete reorganization of the content, and a shift towards more online learning while aligning with a recent rebrand. This would require strong information architecture to create a logical order for all of their resources. Their secondary goal was to improve site-wide storytelling, to help drive visitors to appropriate educational opportunities.

Phase 2: Style & UI Design

Style

Vibrant green and calming blue elements house BCNPHA’s key content, while clear and colour-coded iconography guides visitors to their intended resources. Online opportunities for learning, advocacy, and programs are cross-linked with relevant, inviting calls to action across the site.

Phase 3: Bringing it all together

Bringing it All Together

Visitors to the new BCNPHA site can now discover education, resources, and initiatives to support their needs. The site is fully responsive and mobile-friendly for easy access on the go, while faster page speeds make finding information a seamless, efficient process. The new FAQs area provides easy access to common answers, sorted by category. There’s a new calendar with enhanced landing page overviews of programs and major events, and a resources area with a Supplier Directory for easy access to downloads.
