Since 1944, MEI has been providing students with a high quality, faith-based education, establishing a tradition of excellence that includes MEI students consistently scoring above the provincial average on academic assessments.

Objectives
  • Improve overall aesthetic and user experience and to make the site more engaging
  • Leverage existing social media and CRM activity, both teacher and school administration, to drive a simplified user experience and content strategy
  • Support easy access to commonly accessed content and condense “referral or informative” content into a single unified Resources experience
  • Develop an School Events calendar to clearly show “global” or “main” school-wide events
  • Reorganize and expand current blog(s) for enhanced search and discoverability of content
  • Create a filterable and searchable staff index to allow parents to quickly find the right contact and to allow easier access to contact information
  • Implement a fully responsive solution backed by WordPress CMS
Phase 1

Prototyping

MEI Schools have been providing education since 1944, and their website design felt like it was a decade behind. They came to us looking for a full revamp to bolster their user experience for parents and students, to boost SEO and content marketing, and to better integrate with social media.

Our approach was to focus on modern visual storytelling: a welcoming web design, content refresh, and all-new photography. At the same time, we had another challenge. The site is huge, with areas for prospective parents and students, current parents and students, staff, and alumni – for multiple schools! A strong information architecture was needed to support smooth navigation of all that content.

Phase 2

Style

MEI had well-established branding, so the primary focus was on improving the overall design. We wanted to give more room to the engaging photos, and play up the colours with bolder backgrounds and accents. Their typography got a facelift to a serifed font that feels modern and professional.

Phase 3

Bringing it All Together

The new MEI website feels more youthful and fun, while maintaining their formidable digital presence. The new photos create a more authentic visitor experience, and the site menus are significantly more usable. Their website performance data shows great improvement in traffic and engagement since the new site was launched!
